Our client, a family-owned Food Manufacturer, is looking for a Technical Assistant for their site based in North London.  The successful candidate will undertake a supporting role for both the Quality Manager and Production teams with a mix of factory and office-based responsibilities.

Reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager, responsibilities for the role will include:

  • Completing Quality Control checks and daily checks, communicating and reporting discrepancies
  • Recording, monitoring and investigating any complaints to identify trends
  • Conducting internal audits against BRCGS clauses or customer standards
  • Designing, implementing and maintaining the laboratory testing schedules (water, environment, products)
  • Updating existing product specifications in line with any recipe and other changes, including internal factory specifications, QAS / factory product guides, and external customer online portal specifications.
  • Update supplier approval documents as necessary
  • Organising shelf-life monitoring of the existing and newly developed products
  • Maintaining the product organoleptic assessments, documenting findings and actioning if required

Essential / Desirable skills include:

  • A graduate in a food related area of study, for example, Food Science / Technology
  • Experience working in the QA, Technical or Process Development function of a food manufacturing business
  • Experience in implementing the requirements of a Quality Management System within the food industry
  • Relevant training in HACCP and Internal Auditing from previous employment

The working hours for the role are 7:00am – 4:30pm Monday to Friday. The salary is up to £35k per annum dependent on experience, plus an excellent benefits package.
