The Crucial Role Of Salary Surveys
Salary surveys are a useful tool for both employers and employees in the food manufacturing sector. These surveys provide valuable insights into salary trends specific to roles and can help organisations to attract and retain top talent.
Additionally, these surveys contribute to a more equitable workplace by highlighting pay disparities based on factors such as experience, education, and geographical location. By leveraging data from salary surveys, food manufacturing companies can make informed decisions about compensation strategies, ensuring they remain competitive while fostering a motivated and satisfied workforce.
Ultimately, salary surveys promote transparency and fairness, benefiting both employers and employees in this fast-paced industry.
Here at Jarvis Johnson, a lot of Food Manufacturers have come to us asking for salary advice recently, particularly in positioning their packages for Technical roles. We thought it might be useful to share with you the latest salary survey that we carried out in September 2024.
If you’re reviewing salary banding within your organisation or struggling to fill vacancies and want a bit of a benchmark then this information could be helpful.
The salary information outlined below is based on Technical roles and are average bandings, looking at the Food Manufacturing industry as a whole, using all the national job boards and vacancies placed or roles we were working on at the time.
This does include a relatively high ratio of London based roles, so please take this into account if you are looking at these salaries in relation to more northern based sites. Size of company also needs to be taken into account as smaller companies will typically not be able to compete with salaries offered by large organisations. It is also worth bearing in mind that we have noticed a growing trend (highly unpopular with candidates!) for vacancies to be advertised without salaries and advertised only as “competitive salary” .This may skew the figures as it’s not unusual for these vacancies to offer a lower salary than those shown above!
We have also looked at data from candidates on our database regarding the salary they are currently on, compared to salary they are looking for.
This shows that on average, candidates are currently looking for a pay increase of around 11% when looking for a new role.
We’ve put together some pointers to help if your company is struggling to meet industry salary benchmarks as well as some tips for candidates who are due to have discussion with their employers about their salary. We’ll be publishing these on our blog in the next couple of weeks but if you’d like it delivered straight to your inbox as soon as its published just email us and let us know!
We hope you found this information useful, and we’re happy to have a chat to answer any questions you might have, either by email or phone…simply contact us!
